In the Atrium

Pavlina Veremi throughout her tenure at the National School of Dance supported creative encounters of artists. One such encounter is that of Costas Varotsos with the architecture of Georgios Kontoleontas. The contemporary Greek artist intervenes in the atrium of the historic building (1930), opening a dialogue with the work of one of the most representatives of the 1920s generation. The artist is inspired by the dancer’s body which is the tool of his work, and starting from the ground he creates from wood a rotating spiral. Αround the torso of this spiral, the movement is released at the upper part on the glass. At the same time, Kostas Varotsos shapes the surrounding space to create a small oasis of interiority and meditation.
